Appomattox County schools welcomed 187 4th-grade students in 2023-24 school year

There were 187 4th-grade students enrolled in Appomattox County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 3.9% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Appomattox Elementary School was the only school that welcomed 4th-grade students in the county.

Within Appomattox County schools, the largest number of students were found in 9th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Appomattox County ranked 90th in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 89th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
