Jefferson Forest High School had the highest enrollment among Bedford County schools, welcoming 1,311 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed at the time, 51.7% of them were male, and 48.3% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 77.4% of Jefferson Forest High School's total enrollment.

Among the 19 schools in Bedford County, Forest Middle School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 890 students, while Staunton River High School welcomed 869 students to be ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Jefferson Forest High School is part of Bedford County Public Schools District, which roughly covers schools within Bedford County, with its main office in Forest.

In the previous school year, Jefferson Forest High School also had the highest number of students among Bedford County schools.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
