Higher student enrollment in Appomattox County Public Schools District, differing from state's trend

The only school district in Appomattox County had rising enrollment in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

There were 2,372 students in Appomattox County Public Schools District, 0.5% more than the year before.

Enrollment in Appomattox County bucked the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 50% of them were female, and 50% were male.

Data also showed that most of the studets were white, representing 64.1% of Appomattox County Public Schools District's total enrollment.

Appomattox County Public Schools District has a main office in Appomattox and is the only school district within Appomattox County.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
