Congressman Bob Good (VA-05) has introduced the Iran China Accountability Act in an effort to prevent the Biden Administration from engaging in a nuclear agreement with Iran. The bill aims to halt the use of taxpayer dollars for advancing any such agreement until certain conditions are met by Iran.
Good expressed concerns about President Biden's approach towards Israel and Iran, stating, "President Biden has effectively abandoned our most important friend and ally in the Middle East, Israel." He highlighted the release of billions of dollars to Iran and the pressure on Israel to surrender in the face of Iran-backed attacks.
The Iran China Accountability Act includes provisions such as requiring Iran to sever ties with terrorist groups like Hamas, mandating the Chinese Communist Party to end the incarceration of the Uyghurs, and ensuring the destruction of Iran's chemical weapons infrastructure. Additionally, the bill stipulates that any nuclear agreement with Iran must receive Senate ratification by a two-thirds vote.
Speaking on the importance of the legislation, Sarah Stern, Founder & President of Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET), emphasized the threat posed by the collaboration between Iran and China, calling the bill critically important for safeguarding democratic values.
Morton A. Klein, National President of Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), commended Rep. Bob Good for his leadership in introducing the bill, stating, "Iran is the root cause of all the problems of the Middle East Region." Klein stressed the necessity for any agreement with Iran to be ratified as a treaty and lauded the inclusion of provisions requiring Iran to cease support for terrorist groups like Hamas.
The Iran China Accountability Act has garnered support from various co-sponsors and endorsing groups, signaling a growing concern over the potential repercussions of a nuclear agreement with Iran amidst its ties to terrorist entities.
