WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Bob Good (VA-05) has introduced a resolution in Congress to honor the hardworking loggers who play a vital role in harvesting and replenishing the nation's forests. The resolution aims to recognize the significant contributions of loggers to the economy and the environment.

Virginia, with its thriving forestry industry, is especially dependent on the hard work of loggers. The industry generates over $21 billion annually and employs more than 108,000 people in the state. The loggers in Virginia supply numerous companies involved in the wood products industry, including sawmills, engineered wood products companies, finished wood products companies, and paper and packaging companies.

"Virginia loggers contribute a great deal to our economy and way of life," said Congressman Good. "We honor the hard work and dedication of loggers in Virginia and across the country and will continue working to decrease the preventable roadblocks they encounter while managing our forests and providing essential materials to the supply chain."

The resolution introduced by Congressman Good also seeks to establish October 12 as National Loggers Day. It calls for the unanimous consent and strong support of Congress and the President to recognize and honor the loggers who are the heart, soul, and backbone of the nation's forestry industry. The resolution acknowledges the proud and historic tradition of logging in America and emphasizes the importance of maintaining healthy forests.

Scott Dane, the Executive Director of the American Loggers Council, expressed his support for the resolution. He highlighted the crucial role that loggers play in producing essential fiber and wood for societal needs and building America. Dane also emphasized the importance of family-owned businesses in continuing this important work and passing on their legacy to the next generation.

The American Loggers Council, representing loggers in 38 states, encourages Congressional leaders to proudly endorse and support the resolution. They believe that declaring October 12 as National Loggers Day will help raise awareness about the vital contributions of loggers and ensure the continued success of the industry.

The resolution introduced by Congressman Good has already gained support from several cosponsors, including Jared Golden (ME-02), Michael Guest (MS-03), Trent Kelly (MS-01), Morgan Griffith (VA-09), Matt Rosendale (MT-02), and Cliff Bentz (OR-02).

With the introduction of this resolution, Congressman Good hopes to shine a spotlight on the hardworking loggers and their invaluable contributions to the nation's economy and ecosystem. By establishing National Loggers Day, the resolution aims to honor and recognize the proud tradition of logging in America.
