WASHINGTON, D.C. – On June 21, the House passed H.R. 3799, the CHOICE Arrangement Act, a legislation package including Congressman Bob Good’s (VA-05) Self-Insurance Protection Act, by a vote of 220 to 209. Good’s legislation will help empower small businessowners to provide their employees with lower health care costs.

The Self-Insurance Protection Act, was included in Title III of H.R. 3799 and will prevent federal regulators from redefining stop-loss insurance and overregulating it to the point that it is inaccessible or impractical for small businesses. By increasing access to stop-loss insurance, Rep. Good’s legislation will expand the choices for American employers to offer health benefits to their employees. Learn more about Rep. “By allowing the free market to shield Americans and their employers from catastrophic health bills and the health insurance mess created by Obamacare, we can help small businesses thrive and main street economies flourish,” said Rep. Good. “I am very pleased that my Republican colleagues voted in support of my efforts to fight back against Washington bureaucrats and their overregulation of health insurance.”

This will be Rep. Good’s second bill of the 118th Congress to pass the House floor and be sent to the Senate.
