County of Amherst issued the following announcement on Nov. 9
Amherst County Public Safety conducted Advanced Practice Paramedic (APP) Training on Thursday, October 28, 2021. This training allows Emergency Medical Service Providers to maintain and deliver the highest level of care to our patients and mentor newer paramedics with didactic and hands-on training. Paramedics with APP training can provide the highest level of comprehensive EMS response with extensive, advanced patient care.
Ten people participated in the training led by Public Safety Officers Jared Scott, Joey Greer, Shawn Pannell, Sarah Mullins, and Sam Bryant.
Public Safety is working hard to staff the fourth ambulance located at Monelison Station 3 in Elon, VA. All ambulances have up-to-date equipment, including cardiac monitor defibrillators and 12 lead EKGs with transmission to hospital capability. Seven clinicians are currently practicing APP skills in Amherst County Ambulances.
