Amherst Library Resumes Regular Operating Hours and Provides Digital Titles

2

County of Amherst issued the following announcement on Sept. 1

Electronic books, audiobooks, and other media titles are now available for check out through the Amherst County Public Library. Titles can be checked out using an Amherst County Library through two different programs, the Hoopla app and the Libby app. Library cards can be obtained by visiting either of the library’s branches.

Hoopla has over 900,000 digital titles in its collection, including books, audiobooks, comics, movies, TV Shows, and music albums. These can be accessed through the Hoopla App available in the Google Play Store, the Apple App store, or on a computer at https://www.hoopladigital.com/. Each cardholder is allowed to check out five items per month through the app. All Hoopla titles are available immediately and simultaneously, meaning there is no wait time, no matter how popular the item is.

Libby App uses a traditional library lending model. There are no monthly limits, but popular titles may require you to place a hold and wait for them to become available. The Libby app can be downloaded through the Google Play store, the Apple App Store, or on a computer at https://www.overdrive.com/apps/libby/

Because these two apps use lending models that complement each other’s weaknesses, we recommend that avid readers and audiobook listeners use both apps. For assistance setting up your accounts, please call the library at 434-946-9488.

For readers who prefer physical books, the Amherst Public Library will resume its regular hours Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

The Amherst Public Library is here to serve you. If you do not see the physical or digital titles you are interested in, please let a library staff member know.

Library Hours:

• Amherst: Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri 10am-6pm; Tues 10am-8pm; and Sat 10am-2pm

• Madison: Mon 10am-8pm; Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri 10am-6pm; and Sat 10am-2pm.
