Sewer Inspections and Cleaning (Beginning Aug. 23)

City of Lynchburg issued the following announcement on Aug. 17

Beginning Monday, August 23 and continuing for approximately three weeks, Monday through Saturday during daylight hours, Lynchburg Water Resources (LWR) will work with a consultant (RK&K) and a contractor (Duke’s Root Control, Inc.) to inspect and clean sanitary sewer pipes throughout the City. This work will include the following components: (1) 15,664 linear feet of pipeline closed circuit television (CCTV) video surveillance; (2) 2,637 linear feet of pipeline cleaning; (3) 9,045 linear feet of pipeline blockage assessments using acoustic technologies; and (4) GPS coordinate survey of 36 sewer manholes. (PLEASE NOTE: LWR is asking that personal vehicles and other items be removed from these sanitary sewer areas prior to the Monday, August 23 start date.)

Martin Street

Mayflower Drive

Oak Lane

Oakwood Court

Residents at these locations may see field crews accessing the sewer system through manholes on or near their property. There should be no disturbance of property or impacts to traffic.  

The field crews are following social distancing guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and have been instructed on how to perform their work while minimizing exposure to COVID-19.
