CITY OF LYNCHBURG: City School Board Vacancies (Application Deadline June 8)

Vacancies

City of Lynchburg issued the following announcement on May. 27.

The terms of three Lynchburg School Board members representing School District 1, School District 2 and School District 3 respectively, will expire on June 30, 2021. The three current members representing each district are eligible to be considered for reappointment.

Lynchburg City Council invites residents interested in serving on the School Board to visit www.lynchburgva.gov/school-board to complete an online application. A printable version of the application is also available on the website or can be mailed or emailed upon request. (Contact information is listed below.) An applicant for a position on the Lynchburg School Board who is selected for an interview by City Council will be required to sign a consent form authorizing the City to obtain the applicant’s state and national criminal background records. The failure of an applicant to sign a consent form will disqualify the applicant for consideration of appointment to the School Board.

City Council will make appointments for three-year terms of office commencing July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2024.

An additional public hearing will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. to receive nominations for City Council’s consideration of appointment or reappointment to the three School Board positions (one from each district).  The public hearing will be held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 900 Church Street, and applications must be received by the Clerk of Council prior to the June 8 public hearing.

For more information, contact Alicia L. Finney, Clerk of Council, at (434) 455-3990.
