WASHINGTON, D.C. – On June 6, Congressman Bob Good’s (VA-05) Self-Insurance Protection Act passed the Education and Workforce Committee by a vote of 24 to 18. The legislation can now move to the House floor.
The Self-Insurance Protection Act will prevent federal regulators from redefining stop-loss insurance and over-regulating it to the point that it is inaccessible. By increasing access to stop-loss insurance, this legislation will expand the choices for American employers to offer health benefits to their employees. Learn more about Rep. “Obamacare federalized health insurance and the resulting regulations have made it harder for businesses to provide market-based health insurance to their employees. I thank my Republican committee colleagues for supporting this effort to allow the free market to shield Americans and their employers from catastrophic health bills.
