Recreation and Parks Hires New Recreation Specialist

The Amherst County Board of Supervisors welcomes Elizabeth Parr to the county Recreation and Parks Department as the new Recreation Specialist. Ms. Parr comes to the deparment from Sweet Briar College, where she most recently worked as the women’s lacrosse coach.

An Amherst native, Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Sweet Briar College and a Master’s of Science degree in Adapted Physical Activity from Slippery Rock University. In addition to her three years of experience as a women’s lacrosse coach, she brings to the job experience working in adaptive recreation

She has a passion for outdoor recreation, getting individuals with disabilities involved in physical activity, and lowering the entry barrier to outdoor sports for all.
