Board Approves Financing 19.4 Million for High School Renovation

County of Amherst issued the following announcement on Jan. 19

At their January 18, 2022 meeting, the Amherst County Board of Supervisors agreed to finance $19.4 million for a phased renovation of the Amherst County High School building. The upgrades include improvements to the school’s auditorium, cafeteria, Career and Technical Education (CTE) facilities, making the stadium ADA compliant, and adding additional parking. The project will be funded by restructuring the County’s overall debt and will increase the County’s yearly operating budget by approximately $50,000.

The project has been broken down into five stages.

• Auditorium Addition = $11,576,241.00 

• Cafeteria Renovation = $2,259,163.00 

• CTE Renovation = $3,275,778.00 

• Stadium Renovation and Baseball Fieldhouse = $2,021,218.00 

• Additional Parking = $300,000.00
