Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Randolph-Macon

The Randolph women’s lacrosse team hosted Randolph-Macon on Friday night at WildCat Stadium. The Yellow Jackets defeated the WildCats 24-7.

Randolph falls to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in the conference. Randolph-Macon improves to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the ODAC.

The ‘Jackets led 9-0 in the first quarter. Randolph got on the scoreboard with 2:27 remaining in the period on an Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) solo goal. RM-C would increase its lead to 12-1 near the midway point of the second quarter. The ‘Cats scored three times with the last goal coming as the clock ticked down to zero as Randolph-Macon led 13-4 at the break.

Randolph was held to three goals in the second half. The Yellow Jackets would outscore the WildCats 11-3.

Randolph-Macon outshot Randolph 40-16 and in shots on goal 36-15. The Yellow Jackets were 15-15 on clears while the ‘Cats were 15-of-17.

Beverly Alcock (Purcellville, Va.) netted a hat trick for the WildCats to lead the team. Bossi, Sophia Cirone (Stuart, Fla./South Fork), Maddie Friel (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River), and Olivia Richards (Limestone, Tenn./Pinecrest) all registered one goal. Alcock and Richards both won four draws each. Cirone won three draws.

Taylor Batty (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) had 12 saves in goal for the WildCats. That puts her season save total over 100 for the season.

Randolph travels to Roanoke on Wednesday. Game time will be at 4:00 p.m.
