The Central Virginia Community College Board performs duties with respect to the operation of a community college as may be delegated to it by the State Board, and is responsible for assuring that the community college is responsive to the needs existing within its service region within the statewide policies, procedures, and regulations of the State Board.

The College Board is comprised of nine members, with one member appointed by each political subdivision sponsoring the college. One member is appointed by the Amherst County Board of Supervisors to a four-year term. There is an opening for an at-large seat. The Board of Supervisors will consider applications to fill this seat from County citizens having residency in any election district in the County.
