In Hallmark tradition, Lynchburg celebrates ‘A Dell-lightfully Royal Holiday’
If you’re into Hallmark movies, you’ll feel right at home watching the University of Lynchburg’s 2022 holiday video, “A Dell-lightfully Royal Holiday.”
“Last spring, a few of us were sitting in our weekly content meeting and I mentioned a YouTube video I’d watched that spoofed Hallmark Christmas movies,” says writer and director Suzanne Ramsey, who daylights as a writer/editor in the Office of Marketing and Communications.
“That led to a conversation about MarCom’s annual holiday video, and I suggested we rip off Hallmark this year. Video Producer Tim Russon said he was on board, so I wrote a script, we gathered a cast and crew, and ‘A Dell-lightfully Royal Holiday’ was born.
“It’s not so much a spoof of Hallmark but Lynchburg’s homage to this extremely popular genre.”
Ramsey and Russon spent several evenings and a weekend filming the movie, which involved students, alumni, faculty, and staff, as well as President Dr. Alison Morrison-Shetlar. The film stars recent graduate Elizabeth Martin ’21, in the role of Anna, and music and theatre major Za’Marae Morgan ’23, as Justin.
“It’s been great to see it all come together — from just an idea to a fun, heartwarming film that celebrates the holiday season and the University of Lynchburg,” Ramsey said. “I hope everyone will enjoy it.”
