Soccer Falls in Conference Match to Randolph-Macon

Sweet Briar soccer (1-6-0, 1-2-0 ODAC) fell to conference opponent Randolph-Macon (8-2-1, 3-0-0) today by a score of 8-0.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a hot start with five of their six first-half goals coming in the first 30 minutes of the match.

Junior Sophie Vargesko (Plum, Pa.) recorded the Vixens' lone first-half shot as the score sat at 6-0 entering the break in play.

Graduate student Caroline Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) would force a save by the Randolph-Macon goalkeeper and another shot by sophomore Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) helped power up the Sweet Briar offense.

However, two more tallies by the Yellow Jackets would bring the game to its final 8-0 close.

Highlights

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Trista Cleaves (Millville, N.J.) recorded 17 saves.
  • C. Lewis led the team in shots on goal.
