Vacancy: Planning Commission Voting District 4

There is an opening on the Amherst County Planning Commission for County Election District 4. The Board of Supervisors will consider applications to fill the District 4 seat. The Commission is comprised of seven members appointed by the Amherst County Board of Supervisors to four year terms.

The duties and functions of the Amherst County Planning Commission are to promote the orderly development of Amherst County and its environment. The Commission serves primarily in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors in accomplishing the objectives of §15.2-2210 of the Code of Virginia. The Commission also serves to improve the public health, safety, convenience and welfare of County citizens and to plan for the future development of the County.

If you are interested in serving on the Planning Commission, please apply by letter stating your name, address, contact number and qualifications. Please mail, fax or email your letter of intent to the Amherst County Attorney’s Office, P. O. Box 390, Amherst, Virginia, 24521; fax 434-946-9370; e-mail rmrice@countyofamherst.com. Letters of interest will be accepted until July 29, 2022.
