Alliance Participates in 2022 National Economic Development Week

14

The Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance will be observing National Economic Development Week, from May 9th – 13th, 2022 to recognize the positive contributions of member businesses & partnerships, and explain the role of economic development in our community, including the mission of:

  • Partnering with local economic development agencies, or EDAs, providing local data to guide decisions, exploring grants to continue industrial site development, and the creation of new jobs and investments.
  • Advocating for programs and policies that enhance the regional business climate through targeted and specific efforts including national and international marketing of the region, industrial site development, existing business retention, community development and entrepreneurship.
  • Serving as the regional marketing firm to attract new businesses to the Lynchburg region by building relationships with site consultants, company executives, and continuing to promote top – tier site and building selection within the region.
Now in its seventh year, National Economic Development Week was envisioned by the International Economic Development Council, the largest membership organization for economic development professionals, in 2016 to recognize the essential role that economic development has in creating growing communities with healthy economies. Over years, more than 450 economic development campaigns and initiatives have been created throughout the United States and Canada, creating millions of impressions on social media and the internet, as well as hundreds of news articles, blog featurettes, promotional videos, special events, and other activities. Cities, counties and states have recognized this week in prior years through official proclamations, local regional events, and informational campaigns through social media. The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) has also issued a statement commemorating Economic Development Week in past years.

The Alliance provides regional marketing and support to the City of Lynchburg, as well as the counties of Amherst, Bedford, Campbell and the towns of Altavista, Amherst, and Appomattox. All of the region’s publicly owned industrial parks and available buildings for site selection can be found at www.YesLynchburgRegion.org. This site also provides workforce data, regional demographics and testimonials from local companies for site consultants and businesses seeking to acquire information about the Lynchburg region to help with new business start-ups or expansions.

The Alliance will participate in this year’s Economic Development Week, occurring May 9-13th, 2022. Planned activities include the recognition of local economic development professionals, blogs, and social media pots to educate the community on the role of economic developers, and success story highlights of local economic development projects.
