For the first time in three years, the Randolph College Athletics Department held its annual awards ceremony in person at Smith Theater on Tuesday evening to recognize and honor its student-athletes and their accomplishments from the past year. There were nine major awards handed out with the individual teams giving out individual awards throughout the night.
The Female Athlete of the Year was Kylie Stark from the women's basketball team. Stark was named to the ODAC First Team and was also a D3hoops Third Team All-Region selection. She started 22 of 23 games averaging 13 points. She led the team in rebounds (140) and steals (54) and totaled 49 assists. Her 39.3 Three point percentage in ODAC play was third. She had four 20+ scoring games with a career high of 29. She ranked fifth in steals in ODAC play and sixth in points per game.
The Male Athlete of the Year was Evan Blow from the men's soccer team. Blow scored 18 goals and added eight assists for 44 points with his goals and points setting Randolph single season records. He led the ODAC in goals and points and tied for second in assists. Blow ranked third nationally in shots per game. He had six game-winning goals with two coming in the ODAC Tournament including a penalty kick goal to defeat #1 Washington and Lee in the ODAC semifinals. He was named the ODAC Player of the Year for the second time and VaSID First Team and Offensive Player of the Year. Evan was named a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American and All-Region and to the D3soccer.com All-America Third Team.
Teniyah Crenshaw-Patterson was selected as the Female Rookie of the Year. Crenshaw-Patterson was named the ODAC and Virginia SID Rookie of the Year. She was the only First-Year player to earn All-Conference Honors. Teniyah was also selected as the D3Hoops.com Region 6 Rookie of the Year. She played in 23 games and started 10 for the WildCats this past season averaging 12.8 points a game and was the team leader in total points with 294. Her 106 made baskets and 42.1% field goal percentage led the 'Cats. She had five 20+ scoring games topping at a season-high 25 in a regular season win against Shenandoah and had three double-double performances. She finished second in total rebounds with 139 and the leader in blocked shots with 11.
The Male Rookie of the Year was Sam Hey from the men's swimming team. Sam was the highest regular season and ODAC Championship scorer for the men's team. He finaled in the 200 Breaststroke placing 7th and also finished 12th in the 100 Breaststroke, at the ODAC Championships. In addition, Sam was a key member of four scoring relays.
The Scholar-Athlete Award was given to Emily Barcenas from the volleyball team. Barcenas, a biology major, has the highest GPA of all graduating senior athletes.
Yanessa Cabrera of the women's basketball and lacrosse teams was bestowed the Emily Ryals Sportsmanship Award and Bailey Livingston the Reynolds Cup which is given to the women's tennis player that shows outstanding sportsmanship. The Deacon Award was given to Danny Bickey and Ty Clingerman from the men's basketball team for their help with the athletic training staff.
DeWardrick Mack from Information Technology Services was named the Spectator of the Year while Dr. Peter Sheldon earned the Cushman Cup for his dedication to the student athletes and athletic programs.
