Virginia University of Lynchburg Athletics issued the following announcement on March 8
University of Lynchburg women's golf finished tied for eighth at the Savannah Invitational on Tuesday.
The Hornets ended with a two-day score of 657 (336-321) on the 5,676-yard, par-72 course at Savannah Quarters Country Club.
Maddie Cody led the way for Lynchburg on Day 1. She turned in her third-lowest round at Lynchburg with a 76 (+4). She made four of her six birdies on Monday. On Day 2, she shot 83 and ended with a two-day score of 159. Cody made six birdies during the week and tied for the fifth-most birdies in the field. The graduate student tied for 30th overall and also tied with her teammate Emily Brubaker.
After shooting 86 with one birdie on Monday, Brubaker moved up 16 sports and carded a 73 (+1) on Day 2. She put up the fifth-lowest score in Round 2 across all 81 competitors by making three birdies on the front 9. Tuesday marked the seventh time Brubaker scored in the 70s since September 2021.
Emily Erickson (86-81--167) made three birdies during the tournament and tied for 45th. Gracie Cannon (89-84--173) also scored three birdies and finished tied for 54th. Emma Nicol (88-92--180) birdied the first hole of the tournament and finished tied for 66th.
All together the Hornets birdied 18 holes which was the fifth-most across all 14 teams.
Lynchburg will host its next tournament beginning Monday, Mar. 14. The Hill City Invitational will be played at Boonsboro Country Club in Lynchburg, Va.
