Transfer Site Operations During Winter Storms

15

Campbell County issued the following announcement on Jan. 14

A Message from Campbell County Public Works:

With the approaching winter storm, residents are reminded that significant snow fall can affect transfer site operations.

While Public Works staff make every effort to keep transfer stations clear, there may be some areas where clearing collection sites and trash processing are delayed as crews work through this snow event.

We ask for your patience and consideration and to help us in this effort by:

  • for safety, wait to take trash to convenience centers until after the snow event has passed, and roadways and access areas are clear. This allows our crews time to safely remove snow from these stations.
  • only take household trash to collection sites.  Limbs or other natural storm debris should be taken to the Livestock Road site for disposal.
  • before coming to transfer stations, check with neighbors who may also need assistance with trash disposal. Fewer vehicles entering transfer sites can keep snow clearing crews and the public safer.
  • be considerate of clearing crews working in your area, giving them space and time to get the job done.
Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe!
