Virginia University of Lynchburg Athletics issued the following announcement on Dec. 20

University of Lynchburg freshman Olivia Harris earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's women's basketball player of the week award, the league office announced Monday.

Harris poured in a career-high 16 points in the Hornets' 69-47 win over Meredith last Monday, posting a perfect 7-for-7 mark from the field and going 2-for-2 from 3-point range. The Salem product also added four steals, two assists, and a rebound to her tally.

The freshman led four Hornet players in double figures, reaching the plateau for the fourth time in seven games this season.

Harris has provided a key spark for Lynchburg off the bench this year. She ranks fourth on the team in scoring average (9.7 points per game), leads the team's regulars with a 46.3-percent shooting clip, and her 39.3-percent 3-point rate ranks sixth in the ODAC.

The defending conference champions sport a 6-3 record into the holiday break, including a 2-2 mark in ODAC play. The Hornets will return to action with a huge test on December 29, a matchup with unbeaten and No. 6-ranked Christopher Newport to open up Roanoke College's Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic.
