Liberty University Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 23
Liberty welcomed ASUN newcomer Jacksonville State to Osborne Stadium, Thursday night, to kick off conference play. The Lady Flames remained unbeaten in its last seven matches, defeating Jacksonville State 3-0. Liberty head coach Lang Wedemeyer won his 200th career game, becoming the 86th active coach in Division I to reach the milestone. Liberty improves to 6-3-1 while JSU drops to 4-5-1.
Turning Point
Liberty dodged a bullet at the end of the first half as Jacksonville State had a chance to score in the final minutes of the half, but Nyeemah Beckles’ shot hit the post, as Liberty and JSU went into the break tied at 0-0. Liberty’s offense quickly turned things around in the second half, scoring 13 minutes into the period to take a 1-0 lead, off a Maddy Oliver goal. Ten minutes later the Lady Flames’ would add onto their lead as Chloe Marr scored and sealing the game for Liberty was Lissi Gordon’s free kick in the 87th minute. Liberty’s backline was exceptional all night, holding Jacksonville State to just one shot throughout the game.
