Repairs at Riveredge Park have been completed after a rockslide damaged fencing and deposited rocks in the parking lot. Amherst County Public Works Department removed 90 truckloads of rock, dirt, and debris and laid down grass seed and straw. Boulders have been placed at the base of the cliff to deter park goers from climbing the ridge.
Public works will use some of the removed dirt for daily cover at the Amherst County landfill and fix a washout under the Route 29 overpass adjacent to the Riveredge walking trail. The Amherst County Service Authority used the remainder for erosion repairs at the Central Virginia Training Center and the Dixie Youth softballs fields.
