U.S. Representative John McGuire (VA-05) has introduced the Border Wall Status Act, a bill that would require the Secretary of Homeland Security to create a publicly accessible webpage. This page, hosted on the Department of Homeland Security’s website, would allow individuals to track active border wall construction and its progress.
“President Trump has done more to secure our southern border than any other President in our nation’s history,” said Congressman McGuire. “Illegal crossings at our southern border are at a record low thanks to President Trump and his Administration’s decisive action. I was proud to join my Republican colleagues in passing the Working Families Tax Cut, which provided the resources necessary to finish the border wall and make the southern border the most secure border in history. I am proud to introduce this bill which will allow the American people to view the historic progress at our southern border.”
According to McGuire, there is strong public interest in securing U.S. borders and transparency about government efforts. The proposed legislation aims to address this by giving citizens access to up-to-date information on ongoing projects related to fortifying the southern boundary.
The Border Wall Status Act seeks to ensure that updates on construction are easily available online for anyone interested in monitoring developments.
