Women’s Tennis Defeats Mary Baldwin 8-1

The Randolph women’s tennis team returned to the court on Monday in their first match since returning from spring break. The WildCats took care of Mary Baldwin as they won by the score of 8-1.

Randolph won all three matches in doubles play. Valentina Santos (Valencia, Venezuela) and Noura Elkhansa (Charleston, W.V.) teamed up at first doubles to defeat Katlyn Massie and Gretchen Lutz 8-3. Sabrina Dickerson (Brookneal, Va.) and Harper Whetzel (Grottoes, Va.) edged out Hannah Eastridge and Virani Bhagat 8-7. Jenna Fink (Madison Heights,Va.) and Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) were 8-6 winners over the pair of Lauren Hodgins and Liz Wine.

Santos won at first singles 6-1, 6-0. Whetzel won in a super tiebreaker 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 over Eastridge at third singles. Fink won 6-3, 6-2 at fourth singles. Bell needed a tiebreaker to hold off Hodgins 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 at fifth singles. Elkhansa won 6-3, 6-1 over Savannah Trujillo for her first win in her first collegiate match.

The WildCats return to ODAC play on Saturday when they travel to Ferrum. The match begins at 1:00 p.m.
