Men’s Tennis Falls at Hampden-Sydney

The Randolph men’s tennis team had a midweek conference match with Hampden-Sydney on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers won 9-0.

The loss evens Randolph’s record at 5-5 overall and drops the WIldCats to 1-2 in the ODAC. HS-C improves to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Randolph lost 8-0 at first doubles and 8-1 at second doubles. Singles play saw close matches at first, second, and third. Nicolas Alvardo (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Olimpo) fell to Barrett Foster 7-5, 6-2 at #1. Alex Kulvivat (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) was defeated by Tyler Brice 6-2, 6-3. Bhuvan Ambekallu (Karnataka, India/Bethany High) went to a super tiebreaker against Taylor Fox. Fox won the first set 6-0 while Ambekallu took the second set 6-4. Fox edged out Ambekallu 10-8 in the super tiebreaker.

The WildCats are idle until March 28 when they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. Randolph will play St. Olaf College and DePauw University.
