Liberty University’s women’s sprint team achieved several victories at the Charlotte Invitational, according to an April 25 announcement. Iyana Sherard and Mahogany Mobley won individual sprint titles and contributed to the Lady Flames’ fastest outdoor 4 x 400 relay time in seven years, finishing in 3:40.35.

The event was notable for strong performances despite challenging conditions. Sherard matched her personal best in the 100 meters with a time of 11.64 seconds and improved her personal best in the 200 meters to 23.53 seconds, which is now fourth-best all-time for Liberty’s women’s program. Mobley secured first place in the 400 meters with a time of 53.27 seconds and finished sixth in the 200 meters.

Maddy Merritt ran a season-best time of 55.91 seconds for eighth place in the women’s 400 meters before joining Sherard, Patasha Bryan, and Mobley on the relay team that finished third overall and set Liberty’s fourth-fastest mark ever outdoors for that event.

In field events, Eva Whiteman cleared a season-best height of five feet seven-and-a-quarter inches (5-7.25) in high jump but placed second due to more missed attempts than another competitor from Wingate University. Ellie Stine reached seventh place in discus with a throw of just over one hundred forty-five feet (145-7), while Rebecca Allen took eighth place in long jump at eighteen feet eight-and-a-half inches (18-8.5).

On the men’s side, Reagan Wise cleared seventeen feet one-and-a-half inches (17-1.5) for fifth place in pole vaulting—tying him for fifth all-time at Liberty—and Todd Benhase vaulted sixteen feet seven-and-a-half inches (16-7.5) to tie for tenth on Liberty’s all-time list.

Looking ahead, Liberty will compete next at two twilight meets: The Hill City Twilight hosted by University of Lynchburg on May 2 and Duke Twilight on May 3.
