Liberty University’s women’s lacrosse team ended its 2026 season on May 1 after a 17-3 defeat against Jacksonville University in the ASUN Championship semifinal. The game, held in Jacksonville, saw the No. 3 seed Lady Flames fall to the No. 2 seed Dolphins, who will advance to face Delaware in the final.

The Lady Flames struggled offensively throughout the match, managing two goals in the second quarter, including one during a woman-up opportunity. Jacksonville maintained consistent scoring across all quarters and capitalized on Liberty’s challenges both offensively and defensively. With this result, Liberty finishes its season with an overall record of eight wins and eleven losses.

Key contributors for Liberty included Olivia Young, who scored once from two shots and converted a free-position attempt; Katie Colavito, who added a goal and recorded a draw control; Sophia Nesci, who assisted Kendall Coss on another free-position goal while collecting two ground balls; and Madeleine Klunder, who led defensively with three ground balls and one caused turnover. In goal for Liberty was Rachel Hines (8-10), making eight saves on twenty-nine shots faced.

Liberty entered this matchup as defending ASUN champions but could not repeat last year’s success despite winning their quarterfinal game against Kennesaw State earlier in the tournament. The program will graduate twelve seniors this May as it prepares for next season.

Colavito concludes her collegiate career ranked third all-time at Liberty for both goals scored (131) and career caused turnovers (118). Klunder finishes second in program history for caused turnovers (121) and is tied for second place with Brianna McCaffrey in career ground balls (164). Hines ends her season with a total of 164 saves along with an average of just under twelve goals allowed per game.
