Liberty University announced on April 29 that the Liberty Lady Flames softball team will conclude its regular-season schedule with a three-game series against Kennesaw State. The games are set to take place from Thursday through Saturday at Bailey Park in Kennesaw, Georgia.
The upcoming series is significant as it marks the end of the regular season for both teams. The Lady Flames currently hold a record of 23-26 overall and 15-9 in Conference USA (CUSA) play, while Kennesaw State stands at 7-40 overall and 3-21 in conference competition.
According to Liberty, the Lady Flames are entering this week tied for third place in CUSA standings alongside Delaware and New Mexico State, trailing second-place Western Kentucky University by three games. Jax State has already secured the regular-season title and top seed for the upcoming CUSA Softball Championship, which will begin on May 6 in Newark, Delaware.
The announcement highlights that Liberty’s last game played in Kennesaw was notable; they defeated the Owls 5-4 on May 14, 2021 during the ASUN Softball Championship—a victory that led to their first of five consecutive NCAA Regional appearances. Since then, Liberty has maintained dominance over Kennesaw State with a current streak of fifteen straight wins against them. The Owls’ last win over Liberty occurred on April 2, 2021.
Several players are expected to feature prominently during this final stretch. Alexia Carrasquillo leads Liberty with a .327 batting average along with eleven home runs and forty-two runs batted in (RBI). Freshman Dani Lee is batting .351 with six doubles and two home runs. On the pitching side, Camden Anders holds an eleven-win record this season and boasts strong performances within conference play.
The broader implication for Liberty centers around postseason positioning ahead of next week’s championship tournament. With multiple players recognized for weekly conference honors throughout the year—including Brynn McManus as two-time CUSA Player of the Week—the team aims to build momentum heading into tournament play.
