Liberty University announced on Apr. 27 that six Lady Flames lacrosse players have been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-Atlantic Sun team. The honorees are Katie Colavito, Karlie Hickson, Rachel Hines, Madeleine Klunder, Kendall Nye and Kate Troutman.

The recognition highlights student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. To qualify for the team, undergraduate athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50, participate in at least half of the season’s contests, complete four semesters or reach halfway progress toward a degree, and have spent one year at their institution. Post-graduate students must also meet the GPA and participation requirements.

Each program in the Atlantic Sun Conference can select up to six student-athletes for inclusion on the Academic All-ASUN list each year. Among Liberty’s selections this season, Colavito is noted as the only Lady Flame receiving this honor for a second time after previously being named to the team in 2025.

The academic achievements of these athletes include Colavito graduating with a 3.91 GPA in public health: health promotion; Hickson earning an undergraduate degree in business administration with a 3.61 GPA and currently pursuing an MBA with a 3.73 GPA; Hines holding a current GPA of 3.79 in criminal justice: crime scene investigation; Klunder graduating with a degree in public health: health promotion (GPA of 3.61) and working toward an MPH: nutrition (current GPA of 3.73); Nye graduating with an undergraduate degree in elementary education (GPA of 3.89) and starting graduate studies this fall (current GPA of 3.77); Troutman completing her undergraduate studies in strategic communication with a perfect GPA and continuing her MBA studies also maintaining a perfect score.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, all six athletes were recognized on various other academic teams during the previous year including CSC Academic All-District Team honors and IWLCA Academic Honor Roll mentions.

Looking ahead, Liberty enters postseason play as No. 3 seed facing Kennesaw State as No. 6 seed at Rock Stadium in Jacksonville for the opening round of the ASUN Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
