Liberty will enter the Conference USA Men’s Golf Championship as the No. 1 seed, with play beginning on April 27 at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Arkansas.
The event marks an important opportunity for Liberty to build on its recent postseason history and seek another conference title. The four-day championship will start with three days of stroke play, after which the top four teams will advance to match play rounds on Thursday. The final match for the championship title is scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN+.
Since joining Conference USA in the 2024-25 athletic season, Liberty has reached match play each year. The Flames won the conference championship in 2024 and were eliminated in the semifinals in 2025. In last year’s tournament, Liberty led stroke play but lost its semifinal matchup against UTEP by a score of 3-2.
This year’s lineup features Michael Lugiano (70.76 average), Josh Ryan (71.66), Ike Joy (72.10), Silas Haarer (72.34), and Luke Libbey (73.65), with Brett Reid serving as alternate. Lugiano is currently ranked No. 168 nationally among individual golfers.
Liberty concluded its regular season with a record of 74 wins and a team stroke average of just over 286 per round. After missing NCAA Regional qualification last year for the first time since 2015, Liberty aims to return this postseason—a streak that previously included eight consecutive NCAA Regionals as a team and representation every year since 2009 through either team or individual qualifiers.
The Flames have claimed eight conference championships across Big South, ASUN, and Conference USA since their first title in 2011 and have made fourteen NCAA Regional appearances along with four trips to the NCAA National Championship tournament.
