Liberty University fell to fifth place on Apr. 28 during the second day of the 2026 Conference USA Men’s Golf Championship in Texarkana, Arkansas.
The team posted a second consecutive under-par score at Texarkana Country Club, recording a 2-under par 286 for an overall score of 6-under par 570. Despite this performance, Liberty was overtaken by other teams as the course played easier than in the first round.
WKU and MTSU made significant moves up the leaderboard with scores of 8-under par and 10-under par respectively, surpassing Liberty’s position. UTEP continues to lead the field with a total score of 26-under par, followed by New Mexico State at 20-under. WKU is now in third place at 9-under, while MTSU holds fourth with a narrow one-shot lead over Liberty.
To advance to match play, Liberty must finish among the top four teams after tomorrow’s final round of stroke play. The top four will compete in match play rounds on Thursday to determine the championship winner. Kennesaw State remains close behind Liberty in sixth place at just one shot back.
Seniors Josh Ryan and Ike Joy both contributed sub-par rounds Tuesday, each carding a score of 1-under par (71). Ryan is tied for tenth individually with a total score of three under (141), while Joy is tied for thirtieth at one over (145). The Flames will be paired with golfers from MTSU and Kennesaw State during Wednesday’s final round beginning at 10 a.m. Eastern Time.
