Liberty University defeated Kennesaw State 10-3 on May 2, completing a three-game sweep at Bailey Park.

The Lady Flames finished the regular season with a record of 26-27 overall and an 18-9 mark in Conference USA play. The result means Liberty will wait for the outcome of the game between Western Kentucky and Delaware to determine whether they are seeded second or third for the upcoming Conference USA Softball Championship.

Kennesaw State took an early lead, going up 3-2 after three innings, highlighted by Macie Howes’ solo home run in the third. Liberty responded in the fourth inning with a two-run double from Savanah Whatley and an RBI groundout by Ella Fox to take a lead they would not relinquish. The Lady Flames scored eight unanswered runs across later innings, including a three-run homer by Brynn McManus in the sixth.

Liberty outhit KSU twelve to three and left six runners on base compared to four for KSU. Danner Allen earned her sixth win of the season, pitching four innings and allowing three runs on as many hits. Camden Anders claimed her fourth save of the year with three hitless innings. Paige Doerr led Liberty’s offense going three-for-four with two RBI and two runs scored; Dani Lee added two hits, while Brooke Roberts scored twice and drove in two runs.

With this victory, Liberty extended its winning streak against Kennesaw State to eighteen games and now leads their all-time series twenty-four wins to six. This was also Liberty’s ninth come-from-behind victory this season. Their thirty-two total runs against KSU during this series tied their program record for most runs scored in a single three-game set.

The official seeding for next week’s Conference USA Softball Championship will be announced later today. The tournament is scheduled from Wednesday through Saturday in Newark, Delaware.
