The Liberty Flames came from behind on April 19 to secure a 9-8 victory over Dallas Baptist University at Horner Ballpark, winning the three-game series two games to one.

This win is significant as it places Liberty in third position in the Conference USA standings and marks their fifth consecutive conference series victory. The game also marked the final meeting between these teams as conference opponents, with Dallas Baptist set to move to the new PAC-12 Conference next year.

Liberty overcame an early five-run deficit by sending twelve batters to the plate and scoring six runs with two outs in the fifth inning. Designated hitter Landon Scilley was hit by a pitch twice with bases loaded, forcing in key runs, including what would become the winning run in the seventh inning. Relievers Tyler August and Cooper Harrington shut down Dallas Baptist over the last four innings; August pitched three scoreless innings with a career-high six strikeouts and no walks, while Harrington earned his seventh save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Shortstop Tanner Marsh led all hitters by going four-for-five with two doubles and an RBI, reaching base safely for his twentieth consecutive game. Third baseman Jordan Jaffe extended his reached-base streak to twenty-seven games after posting his fourteenth multi-hit performance of the season. Right fielder Riley DeCandido was hit by a pitch for his twenty-eighth straight game reaching base.

Both teams recorded eleven hits each, but only Dallas Baptist committed an error. Patriots reliever Jerrod Jenkins took the loss after allowing one run over nearly three innings of work. Chayton Krauss hit his twelfth home run for Dallas Baptist during their early lead.

Looking ahead, Liberty will return home to face Duke University on Tuesday at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium.
