Delegate Wendell Walker, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 23rd District, recently used his social media platform to highlight local manufacturing and workplace safety achievements in his region.
On October 10, 2025, Walker posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Did you know October is #ManufacturingMonth? Behind every part, machine, and innovation is a local worker with world-class skill. Lynchburg’s 300+ manufacturers and over 15,000 skilled workers keep Virginia strong. Here’s to those who keep our local economy moving!”
The following day, on October 11, 2025, he commended a local company for its safety standards: “Proud to see Southern Air leading the way in workplace safety as the Commonwealth’s FIRST to earn the highest level of employee safety in the Virginia BEST certification program! What a great example of how investing in people creates stronger, safer workplaces.”
Later that same day, Walker shared his experience meeting with residents: “It was great connecting with constituents in Campbell County this morning! Nothing beats a crisp fall #Knocktober day out at the doors and hearing directly from folks about what matters most to them. “
Walker represents an area that includes Lynchburg and parts of Campbell County. Manufacturing is a significant sector for the region’s economy; according to state data, Lynchburg supports hundreds of manufacturers and thousands of skilled jobs.
The Virginia BEST certification program recognizes businesses that demonstrate excellence in employee safety practices. Southern Air’s achievement marks it as a leader within the Commonwealth for prioritizing workplace health and safety standards.
