Liberty University Head Coach Dash Connell was named the 2026 Conference USA Coach of the Year, leading a group of ten postseason awards for the Liberty Lady Flames women’s tennis team, according to an April 28 announcement. Milana Tsulygina received Freshman of the Year honors, while Maria Turchetto was recognized as Singles Player of the Championship. The doubles team of Turchetto and Yoanna Radulova earned Doubles Team of the Championship.
These recognitions highlight a successful season for Liberty’s women’s tennis program. The team captured its first-ever conference title under Connell’s leadership in his second year with Liberty, finishing with a record of 16-9 and securing four consecutive victories in tournament play to claim the championship over Delaware.
Connell led Liberty through its historic run, guiding them to their inaugural conference title in their 26th season as a program. He finished with a strong home record and directed four wins in four days during the championship stretch. “Led Liberty to its first-ever conference title in 26 seasons as a program, securing the 2026 CUSA title in his second season at Liberty,” reads part of Connell’s recognition.
Turchetto ended her junior year with notable performances, clinching decisive matches both in semifinals and finals during championship play. She wrapped up her singles campaign with twelve wins and played key roles at both No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions.
Tsulygina led all Lady Flames players with eighteen singles victories during her freshman year, going undefeated through four matches at No. 3 singles during tournament play and also contributing significantly in doubles competition alongside Daniella O’Neill.
Liberty is set to make its first appearance ever at the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship against Washington after this landmark season. The team’s success reflects growing strength within Conference USA women’s tennis.
