Congressman John McGuire, a U.S. Representative from Virginia’s 5th district, recently shared several updates on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting community events and notable occasions in late August 2025.

On August 29, McGuire recognized the United States Marine Corps Reserves’ long-standing service and membership. In his post he wrote: “With well over a century of service and 100,000 active members, we wish a happy birthday to the USMC Reserves! You can never have enough marines around. #SemperFi https://t.co/RTV3FQIMUs”.

Later that day, McGuire described a visit to local community organizations in Drakes Branch. He stated: “What a treat it was to stop by VFW Post 8902 and visit the Drakes Branch Farmers Market. Held every Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM at the pavilion in Drakes Branch, this market is a wonderful way to support local farmers! https://t.co/H9L1TQVSpY” on August 29.

On August 31, McGuire posted about attending Liberty University Football’s home opener alongside several university leaders and fellow lawmakers. He wrote: “Tracy and I had a fantastic time at Liberty University Football’s home opener. It was great to join President and Mrs. Dondi Costin, Chancellor and Mrs. Jonathan Falwell, and my colleague in the House, Marlin Stutzman. I am honored to represent the best Christian University in https://t.co/ytuIsR1b59”.

The United States Marine Corps Reserve was established in 1916 as part of efforts to bolster national defense capabilities through reserve forces drawn from civilian life. The organization currently maintains approximately 100,000 active reservists who provide operational support during both peacetime and conflict.

Liberty University is one of the largest private Christian universities in the United States with an enrollment exceeding tens of thousands of students each year.

Drakes Branch Farmers Market serves as a regular venue for local agricultural producers in Virginia’s rural communities to connect directly with consumers each week.
