Congressman John McGuire, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and participant in the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), shared updates on legislative actions and policy positions through a series of posts on July 15 and 16, 2025.

On July 15, McGuire addressed his opposition to an amendment during the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) markup session. He stated, “Today, in the FY26NDAA @HASCRepublicans markup, I spoke in opposition to an amendment that would limit President Trump’s ability to finish the Southern border wall. We must keep our border secure.”

Later that day, he highlighted his participation in a media event with fellow Republicans: “It was great to join @RepublicanStudy’s New Media Row today. I spoke about the major wins included in the One Big Beautiful Bill (now law). RSC & @HouseGOP are supporting conservative policies to help Americans.”

In another post dated July 16, McGuire announced progress on defense legislation: “The #FY26NDAA just passed out of the Armed Services Committee. It is a bill for our warfighters & their families. The FY26 NDAA invests in innovation, readiness, lethality, & our military families. I am proud to join @HASCRepublicans in putting our warfighters first!”

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an annual piece of legislation that outlines budgetary and policy priorities for the U.S. Department of Defense and related agencies. Markup sessions are key stages where committee members debate amendments before advancing bills for broader consideration.
