Congressman John McGuire, who represents Virginia’s 5th Congressional District, recently shared updates on his official X account regarding meetings with local organizations and commented on a tragic event involving a former state official.
On April 15, 2026, McGuire reported on a meeting with the Mortgage Bankers Association, focusing on housing affordability in Virginia. He stated, “I had a great meeting with the Mortgage Bankers Association. We discussed ways to reduce barriers to affordability and increase the supply of housing for Virginians, issues I have addressed with my American Dream Act and Home Savings Act. The American Dream is becoming a reality.” McGuire has previously sponsored legislation aimed at improving homeownership opportunities for residents of his district.
Later that day, he highlighted an engagement with Marlon Levy, CEO of VCU Health Systems. In his post dated April 15, 2026, McGuire wrote, “I had a great meeting with Marlon Levy, CEO of VCU Health Systems. They provide amazing care for rural communities and have now opened a 5 helicopter rapid air transport station which will service the region. Keep up the great work.” VCU Health Systems is recognized for its role in delivering healthcare services to underserved areas in Virginia.
On April 16, 2026, McGuire addressed the recent passing of former Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax and his wife. He posted: “We are saddened to hear of the death of former Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax and his wife. This is a tragic situation all the way around. My prayers are with the children and family members left behind. May God grant them peace during this devastating time.”

The region includes both urban centers and rural communities where access to affordable housing and quality healthcare remain ongoing concerns.
