Congressman John McGuire has used his social media platform to address the ongoing federal government shutdown and announce upcoming media appearances. In a post on October 6, 2025, McGuire stated, “I requested that my pay be withheld as long as the federal government is shut down. It is unacceptable that Members of Congress receive pay while our servicemembers & federal law enforcement suffer because Democrats are refusing to reopen the government.”
On October 7, 2025, McGuire informed followers of two scheduled radio interviews. He wrote, “I will be joining Brian, Mari, & Biscuit tomorrow at 7:35am on WLNI to discuss the Democrat Shutdown, the Navy 250 Celebration, & more. Listen here https://t.co/f1cCG1W6Nj” In a subsequent post the same day, he added, “I will be joining the John Fredericks Show tomorrow at 8:35am. Always great to talk to the Godzilla of Truth. Listen here https://t.co/8gf1Ipa2AB”
The federal government periodically faces shutdowns when funding legislation stalls in Congress. During these periods, non-essential operations cease and many federal employees are furloughed or work without pay until appropriations are restored.
