Campbell County Community Development is currently engaged in the redistricting process, and encouraging citizens to share their opinions on four options.
Per Federal law and the Code of Virginia, Campbell County is required to adjust election districts every ten years in correlation with the most recent decennial Census data. In Virginia, redistricting is mandatory for localities that elect candidates from a district or ward system, to equalize, as nearly as practical, representation in the election districts on the basis of population.
As a result, localities must review and, if necessary, adjust areas to reflect population changes during the previous decade and ensure an equal distribution of the population in each area. The community’s involvement is a vital part of the process.

In addition, citizens are encouraged to share their feedback regarding the plans by submitting their opinions through an electronic survey, available at: http://www.campbellcountyva.gov/FormCenter/Community-Development-5/Campbell-County-Redistricting-Feedback-F-92.
Maps and summaries will be updated, following the Board’s adoption of a finalized redistricting plan and public hearing in upcoming weeks.
