Bob Good, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 5th district, has recently expressed his concerns and opinions on various legislative matters through a series of tweets. Good, who has been serving in Congress since 2021 after replacing Denver Riggleman, shared his thoughts on topics ranging from appropriations bills to fiscal policies.
On May 22, 2025, Bob Good raised concerns about the progress of appropriations bills due by September 30. He questioned the potential complications arising from the requirement for 60 votes in the Senate to pass these bills. “Not hearing anything about the 12 approps bills due by 9/30. How much worse will that be with 60 votes needed in the Senate?”
Later that day, he commented on changes to the State and Local Tax (SALT) cap, suggesting that it disproportionately affects taxpayers in Red states while benefiting more liberal Republicans. “At least the most liberal R’s got their SALT cap quadrupled, on the backs of hardworking Red state taxpayers.”
In another tweet posted on May 22, Good criticized what he referred to as “The Big Ugly Bill,” expressing concern over its impact on national debt levels. He indicated that this legislation could push national debt beyond $60 trillion. “The Big Ugly Truth is that the Big Ugly Bill will push the Big Ugly Debt over $60 trillion.”
Good has been an active voice in Congress since his election and previously served on the Campbell County Board of Supervisors from 2016 to 2019.
