Bob Good, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 5th district since 2021, recently shared his views on financial legislation and sports achievements via social media. Good succeeded Denver Riggleman in Congress and has been vocal about fiscal responsibility.

On May 17, 2025, Bob Good expressed concern over a Republican bill, noting that “The Republican bill that 4 courageous principled conservatives voted against yesterday would raise the debt to well over $50 trillion in 10 years…and they are being attacked for that?” This statement highlights his apprehension about the potential long-term impact of the proposed legislation on national debt.

Later that day, he addressed another fiscal issue related to the country’s credit rating. On May 17, he remarked that “Our credit rating was downgraded yesterday by Moody’s, and yet most R’s are ok with making it worse by passing the current Big Ugly Bill with pretend spending cuts for 2029?” His comments suggest skepticism towards the effectiveness of proposed spending cuts within the bill.

In addition to his political commentary, Bob Good celebrated a sports achievement on May 19. He congratulated Liberty University’s softball team by stating “Congratulations @libertyflames Softball for defeating No.1 Texas A&M and advancing to their first Super Regional!!!” The tweet reflects his support for local athletics as an alumnus of Liberty University.

Bob Good’s background includes serving on the Campbell County Board of Supervisors from 2016 to 2019 before joining Congress. He holds degrees from Liberty University obtained in both 1988 and again in a subsequent year.
