Bob Good, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 5th district since 2021, recently posted a series of statements on social media regarding government spending, the filibuster, and constitutional limits on federal power.

On October 11, 2025, Good addressed the ongoing government shutdown debate in the Senate, stating: “Senate R’s should NOT end the filibuster to re-open the govt & end the Schumer Shutdown. But that would be BETTER than borrowing & wasting another trillion $ to extend ObamaCare subsidies, which would negate the purpose of the “Republican” Party.”

In another post dated October 14, 2025, Good emphasized constitutional boundaries: “The Constitution limits government—it doesn’t license endless overreach. In this episode of Good for America, I break down the roles of each federal branch, how we’ve drifted from the Founders’ intent, and why restoring those boundaries is essential to saving the Republic.” He also shared a related link in a separate post on the same day: “https://t.co/POoGHcxsSC”.

Good’s remarks reflect ongoing debates within Congress over fiscal policy and constitutional interpretation. The filibuster, a procedural rule in the U.S. Senate requiring a supermajority to end debate on most topics, has been a point of contention during recent government funding negotiations. Good’s reference to “ObamaCare subsidies” points to ongoing disagreements over healthcare funding and the Affordable Care Act.

Bob Good has served in Congress since replacing Denver Riggleman in 2021 and previously held a position on the Campbell County Board of Supervisors from 2016 to 2019. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1965 and currently resides in Lynchburg.
