Liberty University’s Allie Zealand ran a time of 4:10.57 in the women’s 1,500 meters on April 19 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California. The performance marked her first race over this distance for the outdoor season and was the second fastest of her career.
Zealand’s result placed her ninth in her heat and twelfth overall among competitors from forty-four sections of the event. This time trails only her personal best of 4:09.76 set during last year’s NCAA Division I East First Rounds meet, making it the second fastest time ever by a Liberty athlete in this event.
The meet also saw strong performances from other Liberty athletes. Eden Alexander set a new personal best with a time of 4:32.99, while Jessica Palisca finished just off her own record at 4:25.91 as both completed doubles in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters.
On the men’s side, Dale Hall recorded a personal record of 3:47.34 in his final race at Bryan Clay Invitational, ranking him ninth on Liberty’s all-time list for the men’s 1,500 meters. Michael Long improved his own best to finish with a time of 3:49.07 after setting a program record in the men’s 800 meters earlier during the meet.
Looking ahead, Liberty is scheduled to participate in two upcoming events later this month—the Penn Relays from April 23-25 at Franklin Field and the Charlotte Invitational on April 24-25.
